Anne Lowe, 70, is a lifelong reader who spent her entire career in hospital administration. She loves travelling with her cousin and spending quiet days with her cat, Cookie.
Last year, Anne faced a diagnosis of severe aortic stenosis. Her journey led her to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for open heart surgery on 26 July 2023, under the care of Professor Bannon. Before the procedure, a nurse asked if she would donate tissue to The Baird Institute. For Anne, the choice was simple. It felt like the right thing to do and a chance to benefit others.
Her heart surgery was a success. Although a recent knee replacement has slowed her down somewhat, she remains focused on the future and plans to start volunteering.
Anne is grateful to you for the care she received. She hopes her donation helps move research forward, giving others the same chance at a successful treatment that she was fortunate enough to receive.
Anne’s choice to give from the heart ensures that her story – and her generosity – lives on in the purpose we all share.
